Employment support for veterans and their partners APM WorkCare is proud to support RSL Queensland to increase employment support for veterans, transitioning service personnel and their partners.

The RSL Employment Program provides support for ex and transitioning Defence personnel and their partners in their search for meaningful civilian employment.

Winner of the 2020 Prime Minister's Veterans' Employment Awards for Excellence in Supporting Spouse Employment, the program provides tailored assistance to veterans and their families, working to understand individual client needs and how to best support their search for employment.

RSL Queensland and APM WorkCare both recognise how the right role can provide purpose and direction for veterans and help eligible participants progress in a fulfilling career.

For ADF members the program aims to help with the transition into civilian life following discharge.

Services provided include:

  • Career counselling
  • Help translating skills for the civilian job market
  • Help interpreting selection criteria, writing CVs, application letters and social media profiles
  • Interview coaching
  • Training and development
  • Connections to employers throughout Australia

To be eligible, ex-ADF members must not be in regular employment and current ADF members should have a confirmed discharge date. The program is also available to partners of a current or former ADF member.

APM WorkCare General Manager Amanda Johnston said the APM WorkCare team are well-placed to support the participants.

“RSL Queensland provides a wide range of services and programs to support the Defence community in real and practical ways,” she said.

"APM WorkCare is proud to support the RSL Employment Program. Our dedicated team have lots of experience supporting veterans and ADF service personnel looking to exit the force and return to work,” she said.

“We know veterans and their families face individual challenges and how important it is to tailor the support for each person.

“We’re also delighted to be a part of a program that supports partners of Defence force personnel if they need assistance in returning to work and look forward to enabling better lives for more people right across Australia.”

APM WorkCare is a national provider of return to work and vocational rehabilitation services across Australia. The team has been helping Australians find, stay and return to employment for more than 28 years.
